Sorelle...
by Teater Giljotin - Sweden

Sorelle (meaning 'sisters' in Italian) is a must see performance, by anyone who has been in love or who have loved and lost.

Based on a true story, Sorelle is about three sisters who fall in love with a sea captain and who vow to be faithful to him until he returns back to them.

The three operatic performers play their parts well; portraying extreme emotional feelings of longing, hope, jealously and even hatred. The accompanying electro-acoustic music is well fitting and actively encourages the audience to feel and become part of the performance by creating surprise and, in some cases, even torment.

The stage area added a different dimension to the performance, portraying the performers like caged song birds; suggesting their sole reason for being was to wait for the sea captain to return. Unfortunately, the sea captain (fantastic Elvis look-a-like) never returns, and the sisters are still there waiting until the very end.

Whether the story is based on sisters in a family, or a group of 'sisters' (close girlfriends), it is definitely worth a visit with friends and loved ones, if only to bring back memories of first loves or young romances.

Sorelle will be next performing at the Embassy Theatre on 28 September at 21.00.
