Why Skegness?
The organisation that developed the SEAS idea, Intercult from Sweden, were seeking a UK partner based on the North Sea Coast in England. This is because the EU funding they sought was available to this area.
Arts Council England, East Midlands were really keen to see SEAS happen in our region.
SEAS hosts are mainly built-up coastal locations, often seeking greater investment. Skegness was the ideal East Midlands location for the work to take place.
Skegness Town Council and East Lindsey District Council supported the opportunity to expand our horizons by being a SEAS partner from the outset.
Although the event is largely taking place in Skegness, with some performances also planned for Mablethorpe and Lincoln, individuals and organisations from across the district are warmly invited to take part in any way they wish.
East Lindsey District Council is committed to the development of the district. SEAS presents an important opportunity to raise the profile of the area. It will also support local people to develop skills and knowledge, through opportunities that are more usually accessed by people in urban locations.
