Food Chain - Nick May, Photographer.

Church farm Museum - Skegness

6th Sept - 5th Oct 2009 - 10am until 4pm

Since 2006 Nick May has been working on a photographic study of agriculture and food production in South Lincolnshire and the Fenlands.

This is one of the most productive and intensively farmed agricultural regions in Europe and central to the UK food industry.

Most agricultural production in the region is controlled by a handful of companies, part of a multinational network of suppliers - growing, importing, processing and packing to the stringent demands of a 24/7 supermarket culture.

This year with support from the Arts Council and Lincolnshire County Council, the ongoing work has been extended to include video by Nick May and Ben Holland, some of which can be seen during the SEAS festival.

This installation indicates some of the many indigenous and migrant workers, gangmasters, farmers and business people caught up in the relentless and highly competitive struggle to supply for the supermarkets.
